Hello friends!
In the past I have shared some basic information about the benefits of apples and bananas. Many of you have asked me to share why I think they are a good nutritional source, especially when I exercise. As I have mentioned, those fruits are part of my post workout supplements mainly because they help to keep my immune system in optimal condition and my blood sugar levels more stabilized throughout the day. I always tell people if you treat your body well (healthy food), the body will respond or perform great during and after your workout. So, good pre and/ or post workout snacks or food intake is vital to achieve great results. It’s also extremely important to make sure you are hydrated before, during and after your workout. Food intake before you workout gives you energy and stamina to keep you going. This becomes the fuel your body needs in order to perform properly. But eating a snack within 30 minutes after you workout is extremely important and crucial. Experts recommend that is important to nourish your body well enough after an intense exercise or workout to help repair muscle tissues and replenish glycogen stores. My choice as a post workout snack is a shake made from whey protein mixed with 8-10 oz of water and a banana as the body turns it into energy very fast. Then I eat an apple as snack two to three hours later (and of course drink water throughout the day) to keep the metabolism in a high mode.
Back to our topic; apples and bananas are excellent sources of dietary fiber essential for a healthy digestive system and also helps regulate your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. These fruits are also natural energy snacks. The sugars in these two fruits are in the form of natural and complex carbohydrates which supply fuel to your body’s cell, they don’t take too much time to digest which helps the body absorb them faster and better. Bananas are a great source of potassium which is essential in maintaining blood pressure and as well as apples, they also are a good source of magnesium and other essential minerals. You are probably asking and what about vitamins? Well apples and bananas provide a good amount of vitamin C which is important as an antioxidant in the body and is also vital for keeping your body’s immune system up. They both contain vitamin B6 which helps metabolize carbohydrates and proteins in the body.
As you can see the benefits of apples and bananas are immense. Other than what I have just described, there are even more benefits and I am encouraging you to research more about it as I did. You can also click on the pictures below for more tips or information about them. Apples and bananas are very popular amongst people of all ages and ethnical groups and perhaps the most important reason why they are so popular is due to they both have wonderful flavor, are easy to eat, and are available year round.
Now you know why they are part of my dietary supplements. Please feel free to click like and make comments or ask questions, I will be more than happy to assist you!
