Hello friends, it has been awhile since my last blog. Today I am writing about Reiki on animals. As an animal lover, I know how important pets are to us. They are more than just a pet; they are a family member with their own personality. Like people and plants, animals can benefit from Reiki. A month ago my 15 year old Beagle (Snoopy) had a stroke. The way he looked, we all thought he was not going to make it. He could not move and was breathing very fast. I started to perform Reiki on him that night and by the next day he was slightly better. The following day I gave Snoopy another treatment and by the 3rd day my dog was already walking up and down the stairs. When the Vet came to my house and saw him he replied “Is this the fellow with the stroke?” He could not believe it …”There is no way a dog can be walking down the stairs like that after such stroke”. I told him I applied Reiki on Snoopy and although the Dr. was not completely skeptical his face was on disbelieve. As of today, other than age related issues my dog Snoopy is doing well (See pictures below). Reiki healing on animal does not involve the administration of any drug, just a gentle physical or touching contact with the animal, so it is unlikely to do the dog or pet any harm. Animals love Reiki and it will work for them. Animals can easily get hurt when we are not paying attention; jumping, playing, chasing toys or feeling energetic and running around the house. Almost 6 months ago my daughter’s puppy Zuko a Siberian Husky fell down the stairs hurting himself. He was in so much pain that was crying very much. Everybody was getting desperate; I immediately took him in my arms and applied Reiki on him. At that time while he was touched, he fell asleep and rest for awhile. A moment later he woke up and was back running like nothing happened. Since the moment I touched and applied Reiki, Zuko and I got very close, it was like magic. He is now 4 times bigger and stronger than when he got injured but we still have the same strong bond and connection (See pictures below). It is important to applied Reiki to the animal as soon as possible. If an injury is allowed to swell, excessive fluids can gather in and around the injury, increasing pressure and decreasing the flow of energy to the area of injury. This can result in permanent damage to tissues and lengthen treatment time. Reiki is an energy healing technique developed thousands of years ago which is gentle, can be done in person (face to face) or from any distances with the same effect and results. Any animal that receives regular grooming from a human is probably receptive to being touched for Reiki. Reiki works well with animals for the same reasons it works well on plants and people of all ages. Have you ever noticed that when you pet an animal, he rolls over to receive more or looks at you with lovey-dovey eyes or sighs? Animals respond to your loving touch and intention. Reiki is another way to help your animals feel better. Reiki helps the healing process and works with any type of medical intervention without side effects or counter indications. If you would like to have Reiki done to an animal who is not usually touched (like wild animal, fish, birds) the distant healing techniques will work. You can use Reiki on an animal of any age or situation, even if they have been through a trauma. Animals can use loving energy after they've experienced any type of abuse, loss or if they seem to exhibit depression or other behavioral disorder. Even if you don't know what the problem is, or your pet is just stressed out, you can use Reiki to help. If you have no training in Reiki do what you know best, give your pet love; it is the best medicine! Feel Free to write comments of questions and to like or share it in Facebook! Hello my friends, Here it is! The second part of the most anticipated series “The Power of Our Thoughts”. I really appreciate all the kind words and feedback I received from the first part, The Effects of Negative Thoughts. On this second part I am going to write about the Power of Positive Thinking. Many of you have heard that if you think positive you will bring positive things. This is absolutely true but do you know that positive thinking is more powerful than that? Positive thinking can have a big impact in your overall life. It could be responsible of bringing inner peace, better health, improved relationship, professional success and of course happiness. Now the reality is that not everyone believes or accepts this as a real theory. Many people are skeptical and just refer to this as nonsense. Among those who believe it, not many really understand how to use efficiently. How many of you heard someone said “Don’t worry, think positive” when you are down or worried? They say it but do not know what those words really mean or how to use them correctly. Positive thinking is REAL; it is a mental attitude that anticipates great and constructive results. This is how our mind works in positive and negative outcomes: Our thoughts become images or words and those images or words become actions or behaviors. When our thoughts are positive and we have a positive attitude we develop pleasant feelings and practical images then our “mind’s eye” will project the results we really want and our body will act upon them. Positive thinking as well as negative can be very contagious. Those around us can be affected by our feelings, emotions or thoughts. What you are thinking can be transferred subconsciously to your body language. We are energy beings and we can sense other people energy or aura. That is why you would like to be surrounded by positive people and avoid those who are negative. When you are providing any kind of service, you are willing to give the extra mile to those who are positive and avoid the negative ones. Ok, how do we turn our minds to think positive? Well honestly nothing changes overnight, positive attitude and thoughts comes with training, practice and inner work. There are tons of ways or exercises you can do or practice to develop positive thinking. I will share some with you but I will suggest you to search for more, it won’t hurt! Ø Write or say positive affirmations as soon as you wake up, such as “Today will be a great day”. Repeat it or say it to yourself several times throughout your morning. Ø Visualize constructive and beneficial outcomes in any situation. Ø Use positive words in your inner thoughts or dialogues. Ø For any negative thoughts you have, write or replace them with 2 positive ones. Ø Smile more and help others, this helps to feel and think more positive. Ø When worried or sad, try to remember happy feelings or experiences. These are some of the exercises I use myself and with my clients. Don’t be disappointed if you find any inner resistance when trying to replace negative thoughts. This will pass but you need to be persistent and eventually your mind will start to think positively. Ok my friends, by writing all this I am not telling you that ALL your negative thoughts will disappear and you will no longer have them but that you will definitely have more control over them. By having control of your thoughts you will have more control of your emotions and therefore your actions. If you have any questions about this topic, please do not hesitate to write your comments or questions. Also, feel free to share it and like it in Facebook. Hello friends! On the next two blogs I am going to talk about the power of our thoughts. There will be two parts on this topic. This month will talk about the effects of negative thoughts and on the next will cover the effects or power of positive thoughts. It’s well known in the mental health field that negative statements from others can erode or affect our judgment of self-worth. In today’s society most of our children tend to internalize or believe negative statements said to them from adults, parents, older siblings or friends and they start to develop some sort of doubt about their self-concept when criticized on regular basis. Then these same people tell the children not to let others put them down. This kind of mental confusion makes us erode our sense of self-worth or self-concept and therefore limit our potential. That’s right our worst enemy is within us – our inner dialogue or negative thoughts can very much so increase the stress levels, put yourself down and create limitations. For example, when your self-talk is negative, your perception of things tends to be even more stressful. If something is happening to you and you describe that as “unfair” or “impossible”, it will become more difficult and consequently more stressful to work on. On the other hand, if you consider or describe the situation as a “challenge” or “test” you see it as something workable or with a solution. As a hypnotist I am aware of how the subconscious mind can hurt you (or help you) when it believes the thoughts it “hears”. Why I am saying this? Well, because we create our own limitations or our own opportunities. The more you repeat “I can’t do this or that”, the more likely you won’t. You can limit your abilities by telling yourself you “can’t”, “won’t”, “it’s not for me”, “it’s too hard”, “it’s impossible”. It is very important for you to understand this because the minute you tell yourself you can’t do something, you more likely will not look for any solution or answer. Let’s take a look at the following scenario; you need to finish a work project and the computer does not turn on when you press the button. You might respond to this: Ø “I don’t know anything about computer, I can’t finish my project so I will be fired …” Ø “I don’t know anything about computer but let me see if I can figure this out…” Take a look at these two responses, which response makes you feel more hopeful and can produce a solution or creativity? The second statement will motivate you to find a solution vs. the first one will make you to stop looking for one. Negative self-statements or thoughts have a tendency to be self-fulfilling prophecy! Many people do not understand they are the authors of their own failure or they are responsible for not achieving their goals. For example, in my practice I have people coming to me wanting to lose weight or stop smoking. When I ask them why they have not been successful, they’ll say: “Because I can’t stop smoking", "No matter what I do, I can’t lose weight”, “Anybody else loses weight (stop smoking), except me”, “I don’t have the will power.” SEE THE POINT! People believe that hypnosis is a magic wand and they will able to achieve anything without making any kind of effort. As long as people keep thinking negatively their mind will obey and not lose weight or stop smoking. The person needs to think positively in order to program his/her mind to achieve the goal. You will be amazed what you can do when you replace “I can’t” with “I can”. For instance, losing weight is not just about nutrition or diet, and exercise but is about to exercise or train your mind to think positively (“I can” statements) and believe you will achieve your goals. Doing this will help your brain to send the “right messages” to your body and therefore, lose weight. On my next blog I will cover part 2 of this topic and will talk about the power of positive thoughts. If you have any questions about this topic, please do not hesitate to write your comments or questions. Also, feel free to share it and like it in Facebook. Until next time and remember - Whatever your mind can think and believe, it can achieve! Hello friends! In the past I have shared some basic information about the benefits of apples and bananas. Many of you have asked me to share why I think they are a good nutritional source, especially when I exercise. As I have mentioned, those fruits are part of my post workout supplements mainly because they help to keep my immune system in optimal condition and my blood sugar levels more stabilized throughout the day. I always tell people if you treat your body well (healthy food), the body will respond or perform great during and after your workout. So, good pre and/ or post workout snacks or food intake is vital to achieve great results. It’s also extremely important to make sure you are hydrated before, during and after your workout. Food intake before you workout gives you energy and stamina to keep you going. This becomes the fuel your body needs in order to perform properly. But eating a snack within 30 minutes after you workout is extremely important and crucial. Experts recommend that is important to nourish your body well enough after an intense exercise or workout to help repair muscle tissues and replenish glycogen stores. My choice as a post workout snack is a shake made from whey protein mixed with 8-10 oz of water and a banana as the body turns it into energy very fast. Then I eat an apple as snack two to three hours later (and of course drink water throughout the day) to keep the metabolism in a high mode. Back to our topic; apples and bananas are excellent sources of dietary fiber essential for a healthy digestive system and also helps regulate your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. These fruits are also natural energy snacks. The sugars in these two fruits are in the form of natural and complex carbohydrates which supply fuel to your body’s cell, they don’t take too much time to digest which helps the body absorb them faster and better. Bananas are a great source of potassium which is essential in maintaining blood pressure and as well as apples, they also are a good source of magnesium and other essential minerals. You are probably asking and what about vitamins? Well apples and bananas provide a good amount of vitamin C which is important as an antioxidant in the body and is also vital for keeping your body’s immune system up. They both contain vitamin B6 which helps metabolize carbohydrates and proteins in the body. As you can see the benefits of apples and bananas are immense. Other than what I have just described, there are even more benefits and I am encouraging you to research more about it as I did. You can also click on the pictures below for more tips or information about them. Apples and bananas are very popular amongst people of all ages and ethnical groups and perhaps the most important reason why they are so popular is due to they both have wonderful flavor, are easy to eat, and are available year round. Now you know why they are part of my dietary supplements. Please feel free to click like and make comments or ask questions, I will be more than happy to assist you! Body/Mind/Spirit, three elements for one big cause, human well being. Because of this special perspective, we are well equipped to respond to the issues of life that are often expressed in spiritual language: questions of purpose, meaning, direction, self-worth, and value. Spiritual and psychological understandings complement each other when comes to analyze what is affecting our health. It will be easier to manage our emotions if our spiritual issues are nurture. Our spirit needs to be nurtured and given sustenance through regular beliefs practices.
Emotions play an important part in the overall health of all of us. Getting in touch with and learning to express our feelings is an important step in our maturity as human beings. Coming to understand our emotions and our emotional needs can help us live with greater satisfaction. Whether or not we are struggling with emotional issues, we all have a need to keep growing spiritually. Sometimes our desire for further spiritual development comes out of a struggle within ourselves to come back to God (Higher Power) or to understand more our own faith. Other times we realize our need for spiritual development as we face some crisis of faith or emotional pain in our own lives. Still other times, our lives are going well and we wish to enhance and deepen our relationship with God (Higher Power) and our understanding of our own spirituality. Having spiritual practices that bring enlightenment, inner wisdom, and guidance will steer us on the path to our own health. When our psychological body is ill for some reason, and our spiritual one is empty we are in deep need of healing. We often forget the importance of spiritual and emotional health and this could cause negative consequences on our overall wellness. Wellness needs to include physical, mental and spiritual health to ensure the entire individual remains well. The process of healing is not solely to cure a disease or injury; it includes restoring healthy life energy through your entire system (body, mind, spirit) and creates a balance. Emotional disorders are reactions or actions that do not allow an individual to admit his or her feelings regarding a situation. Counseling can be effective in determine what the underlying condition is. Once the individual is aware of the process that precipitates the onset of the emotional distress, he can develop a plan of treatment. The individual’s spiritual life will affect his/her ability of being or not being able to feel his or her way through the healing process. It is by allowing oneself to experience emotions that emotional health can be regained. By looking inwards, an individual can determine what emotional baggage has been stored in the memory of the body’s cell. Counselors or Therapists trained in spiritual development can help you address spiritual issues as well as emotional issues, thus allowing you to integrate important aspects of your being as you explore your relationship with God or Higher Power and strive to live what you believe. Remember, emotions are the windows of our spirit, if we allow those windows to become foggy and not care about them we will not see the dangers that are more visible to others. |
